Reviewing my Time at WSIDD

Introduction

It’s crazy to me that my time working at WSIDD is already done. These past seven months have gone by so quickly and so much has happened. I have done and learned so much and working here has been such a good experience. I really focused on improving myself this term and I think I did a great job at being a project manager.

Goal Reflections

Organization/Time Management

I would say that I achieved this goal for my work term. I was much more organized this term than I was for my first. I started each of my days by planning out what work I needed to get done for that day and taking into account the extra time I needed to answer emails and solving any extra problems that come up during the day. Over the past 8 months my organization and time management skills have improved so much and I’m excited to take these skills with me as I go back to school and throughout the rest of my career.

Communication

I would say that I have achieved this goal this work term. Working on my oral communication skills was a big focus for me during my time working at WSIDD. I feel that I have become a much stronger independent speaker and I no longer have to focus on speaking clearly and confidently during meetings, as it has become a lot more natural to me. I no longer am stressed about running meetings as I was running a meetings almost every day. My independent speaking and communications skills are now valuable assets to me as I continue on into the future.

Problem Solving

Making critical decisions fast and effectively has been a major part of my job over the time I have been working at WSIDD. I believe that I have improved greatly at being able to analyze problems and come up with smart solutions much better and faster than every before. I still reached out for advice when I felt it was needed, but I wasn’t reaching out for a solution to my problem. I would reach out for advice and take the information given to me and use it to come up with a strong solution to my problem. Being able to come up with smart solutions to problems quickly and efficiently is an extremely valuable skill to have and I’m glad I got to have such good experience dealing with the problems that would come up on a daily basis.

Conclusion

The experience I had at WSIDD was an amazing opportunity for and one that I did not want to take for granted. I really focused on learning and improving while I was there and gaining as much experience as I could over the course of the two work terms. I have learned and improved so many skills and have especially learned to think critically of myself and learn from the mistakes I made along the way. Overall, it was the best professional experience I’ve ever had and I’m looking forward to taking everything I’ve learned along the way to wherever the future takes me.
